This is why NAIOP works.

Developing relationships and networks can do more than propel individual careers. Earlier this month, the NAIOP Washington State network pulled together to address an issue in Renton brought to our attention by a member. A decision to change billing for garbage services on commercial leases from tenant to landlord had been made without the understanding of the impact – in some cases, thousands of dollars per tenant, per month, could be billed to landlords.

NAIOP’s Government Affairs committee and support staff planned a conference call to address the issue, and members called Renton and Republic Services directly. As Sean Durkin, CCIM and Vice President at the Andover Company, wrote, “Well, this was fast.” The situation was resolved under 24 hours.

John Pietromonaco, Managing Partner, Pietromonaco Properties, summed up the result: "This is why NAIOP works."
