December Breakfast 2016: Defining Moments: Lincoln Square

NAIOP Washington State's fifth annual Defining Moments program will focus on the challenges and successes of Bellevue's Lincoln Square development over the past two decades. The story begins in 1998, when Westbank purchased the block for $18 million to build a 1.5 million-square-foot complex called “Lincoln Center.” Pre-leasing to office tenants began in the spring of 2000 with drugstore.com, which fell victim to the dot-com bust not long after. The lead investor, Lend Lease, halted the project in 2002 due to soaring office vacancies, and in 2003, Kemper Freeman announced an agreement to purchase the development. Today, Kemper Freeman is expanding Lincoln Center and enjoying robust growth in Bellevue.
