2021 NAIOPWA Night of the Stars Finalists & First Winners

2021 NAIOPWA Night of the Stars Finalists & First Winners Announced
Annual People’s Choice Award with Daily Voting Runs Sep. 22 – Oct. 6

SEATTLE – Announced at NAIOP Washington State’s September Breakfast, the slate of competitors for the association’s annual Night of the Stars Awards once again showcases the best commercial real estate development projects across the state completed in the past year.

This year, the CRE industry faced continuing pandemic-related disruptions—from construction challenges including labor shortages, rising costs and global supply chain delays, to lower occupancy in office, multi-family and retail. Yet the developments honored for 2021 as finalists and winners continue to not only reshape the built environment in the Puget Sound region—but also to lead innovation across the nation.

NAIOPWA’s 2021 Night of the Stars finalists also reflect regional shifts toward housing solutions, sustainable innovations to create lasting social, economic and environmental impacts, and a rapid increase in office development inside and beyond traditional downtown business corridors.

The first three winners stand alone in their categories and lead the pack of significant achievements across all categories:

  • Deal of the Year: Vulcan Real Estate’s 2 Million Square Foot Amazon Office Lease. Amazon’s expansion in the Bellevue CBD solidifies the city as a center for innovation and intellectual capital—and will have as many jobs as Amazon’s unofficial “HQ2.”
  • Mixed-Use Development of the Year: Rainier Square. Rainier Square’s SpeedCore design solves a problem that plagues tall building construction everywhere: How to best minimize schedule lags when building a concrete core that leads the erection of the surrounding steel structure.
  • Sustainable Development of the Year: South Landing. South Landing is the first zero-energy, zero-carbon, zero-cost building constructed with cross-laminated timber—innovating climate harm out of the built environment.

Use the NAIOPWA app to view the finalists’ gallery and to vote for the 2021 People’s Choice Award! App users may vote once per day for the project they believe represents best-in-class development. Voting runs Sep. 22 - Oct. 6.

Winners will be announced at NAIOPWA’s annual Night of the Stars Gala on Friday, Nov. 5, hosted at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. Learn more about Night of the Stars 2021.
