Panattoni's Travis Hale Receives National NAIOP Award
NAIOP Washington State chapter also honored with Membership and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion awards at national Chapter Leadership and Legislative Retreat.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Announced on Tuesday, February 13, at the industry association’s retreat in Washington, D.C., Travis Hale of Panattoni Development Company, Inc. was recognized by the commercial real estate development association, NAIOP, with the Outstanding Leadership by a Chapter President Award for his commitment and service to the organization’s Washington State chapter in 2023. This is the first time the award has been given to a chapter president from NAIOP Washington State. The chapter also was honored with awards for excellence in both their Membership and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs.
Each year, leaders and chapter executives of NAIOP from around the country convene in the nation’s capitol for the Chapter Leadership and Legislative Retreat, a three-day conference that includes the Chapter Merit Awards ceremony and a congressional Day on the Hill event, where chapter leaders meet with lawmakers in both the House of Representatives and Senate to discuss national priorities for the industry. NAIOP’s top advocacy priorities for 2024 include capital and credit availability, as well as office-to-residential conversion incentives, which have been gaining traction in urban areas.
Hale’s experience in commercial real estate spans nearly 26 years. Currently, he is the Seattle Partner for Panattoni, an industrial developer with projects across the South Puget Sound region. The firm was honored with NAIOPWA’s Developer of the Year award in 2017. Hale has served in leadership roles with NAIOPWA since 2016 and, as president, heralded the chapter to its highest member retention rate in history. Under his leadership, NAIOPWA launched a scholarship program for students in the Commercial Real Estate Certification Program at the University of Washington and saw a return to pre-Covid event attendance rates.
Under Hale’s leadership:- NAIOPWA membership grew to 1,130+ members.
- Over 4,000 attendees at NAIOPWA chapter events during Hale’s presidency
- Launch of scholarship for UW CRE Certification Program students
NAIOPWA’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion initiative was launched in 2017 with the mission to build and develop a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture. NAIOP’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award recognizes chapters working to advance DEI within commercial real estate, and the national organization lauded the Washington State chapter for its Pipeline Initiative, which includes an annual summer intern program and the aforementioned scholarship, which provided 84% of tuition costs to two students in the UW program. NAIOPWA has plans to expand the scholarship after its success in 2023.
In addition, the CRE trade association was presented an award for its robust membership offerings, including an expansion of its young professionals group, the Developing Leaders, as well as a recent boon in student involvement, in large part thanks to the work the organization has done with University of Washington’s student Real Estate Club. Despite uncertain market conditions for the industry, NAIOPWA retained 95% of its members over the last year, a testament to the growing reliance on professional networking and association involvement in today’s economic climate.
NAIOP Washington State congratulates Travis Hale on this achievement and extends its deepest appreciation for his leadership of the association. The chapter also commends the countless volunteers, members, and chapter leaders who led the Membership and DEI initiatives and made these successes possible.
